Our Chef

Hungry Betty's Bar & Grille is anything but a typical bar and grille.  Why pay high prices for delicious food by traipsing down to the North End where you have to endure limited parking, expensive valets, and paying tolls when you can find everything you want in exquisite meals right in Marblehead.  Hungry Betty's is proud to introduce our Executive Chef, Anthony Conelisee.  Anthony, originally from California, moved to Massachusetts at age 11, where his parents opened and ran as many as seven restaurants, mainly on the Cape.  Growing up around restaurants, it was inevitable that he and his brother would run their own restaurants: Stephanie's and Gutsy Benders.  From 1982 to 1995 Anthony made his way in a modified 1969 VW Microbus as a true Dead Head, traveling around the country and serving up great food to all the Dead Heads.   In 1996 Anthony won the Bronze Award in a cooking contest in Paris that sent him on a six month internship learning from the finest chefs in Ireland, including the Luttrellstown Castle in Dublin, as well as in Warsaw and Sicily, and Rome, Tuscany and Milan in Italy.  In 2003 he owned a bar in London, which won the award for the best roast beef and burgers.  More recently Anthony was the Executive Chef at CafĂ© Polonia in Salem, the Sous Chef at the City Landing in Boston and now has his new home here at Hungry Betty's.  Anthony prides himself on making fancy food without charging an arm and a leg. His philosophy is "a happy kitchen produces happy food" and the certainly will make any guest at Hungry Betty's have a happy belly.  Anthony loves sharing his wealth of cooking knowledge and plans to have cooking classes at Hungry Betty's in the near future.  Stay tuned to our web site for more information.
